So… if you don’t already know, let me tell you what an affiliate link is, really!
On many pages here, you’ll find links to products, services, apps, travel deals, and other money-saving goodies.
As it says on my home page, this is where you and the internet LINK ARMS to find amazing products and services, all right here, all within Arm’s Length. On most pages here, you will see links not only to products and services, but you will also see links for travel deals, apps, and other money-saving/producing opportunities.
Don’t worry, it’s OK to click on any of those links, but be aware, when you decide to make a purchase or join a club, I may earn a commission or a referral fee from the company; and it won’t add a single penny (or should I say nickel since the penny will soon be obsolete) to your purchase.
Think of it like this:
- The price you see is the price you get. (sometimes even less, when you can take advantage of: coupons, promo codes, and secret savings).
- Because I have helped the company make a sale, the company says, “Thank you, Laura!” and they toss a small “thank-you gift” my way.
- That “thank-you gift” helps me keep this site operational, it helps me hunt down more deals, and, best of all, it helps me avoid having to live on plain peanut butter sandwiches forever. (Not that I mind an occasional PBS, I don’t even mind sharing.)
Should you assume every link is an affiliate link?
Yeah, pretty much.
Of course, not every link is an affiliate link, but many are. So to keep it simple, (no i’m not going to call you stupid here lol, xx) it’s probably safe to consider that if I’m referring to a product, app, or service: and you see a link underlined in blue, if you click on it, there’s a good chance it’s either a partnership of some sort or an affiliate link.
If however, you come across a link that isn’t monetized, just know that:
- I still love you.
- I may not have set up the affiliate part yet.
- Or I wanted to share something special with you because it was that helpful and needed to be shared, commission or no commission.
How do I choose what to recommend? Affiliate Disclosures are so important here.
It’s true, I can earn income from affiliate links. BUT, that doesn’t mean I’ll promote just anything with a payout.
Here’s my personal promise to you:
- I focus on products, services, and deals that:
- I personally use, have used, or would confidently recommend to a close friend.
- Fit the mission of this site: helping you save money, time, or sanity (bonus points if it’s all three).
- Makes sense for real humans with real budgets that may be overextended.
- I will not:
- Recommend something only because I may get a commission.
- Guarantee you’ll have the same results, earnings, or experience as I or others have. (Your results may even exceed mine if you put your whole heart, mind, and soul into it. AND, I will rejoice with you on your success.)
- Pretend something is amazing if it’s… meh. Life is too short, and budgets are too important.
If I ever do a sponsored post, paid collaboration, or receive a product for free to review, I will clearly say so in the content (That’s why they are called “Affiliate Disclosures.”) You will always know when something is sponsored vs. simply recommended.
Does this cost you extra?
